Noida sisters case: NCW orders inquiry

The National Commission for Women (NCW) Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the case in which two sisters had locked themselves in their Noida house and starved for seven months.

Anuradha and Sonalika Behl were rescued by Noida Police Tuesday. They had locked themselves up in their house No.326 in the posh Sector-29 for seven months. On Wednesday morning, the older sister, Anuradha, died in hospital, due to malnutrition, leading to multiple organ failure.

According to a statement issued by the ministry of women and child development, NCW chairperson Yasmeen Abrar "has ordered an inquiry into the report of the self imposed confinement of NOIDA Behl sisters and their condition".

The Noida adminisration Wednesdday ordered an inquiry into the case.

The two sisters had shut themselves up in their house No.326 in the posh Sector-29 for seven months. They had been depressed after the death of their father Colonel (retired) O.P. Behl, police said.
