He took the permission from management and went to visit Puttaparthi. Tendulkar is a devotee of Sri Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba. He actually said he will avoid his celebrations as baba is not well but as he died Sachin left to Puttaparthi.

Sathya Sai Baba Died today at Puttaparthi
Sathya Sai Baba died today in hospital at puttaparthi. The 85yrs aged India's most revered spritual leader died at 7.30am 24th April 2011. He was died of cardio respitory failure.
Sathya Sai Baba was a popular guru with political leaders, businessmen and celebrities among millions of his followers.
They believed the frizzy-haired guru to be a reincarnation of Hindu 'god-man' Sai Baba from the 19th century.
